Things You Should Know About Heavy Duty Tarps

Heavy duty tarps are the ones which execute best quality and last long while serving you different purposes. They are known to be extremely versatile and can be used by builders or manufacturers at construction sites or by simple housewives at home. Their long life is what indicates their peculiarity.

At the basic level, for everyday uses like covers for swimming pools and automobiles or boat covers, heavy duty tarps can be used. In fact, people who own cars should definitely make use of one heavy duty tarp on a regular basis. Monsoons bring in cosiness but also gift you a complementary leaking roof. At times when you just cannot get your roof repaired instantly, a heavy duty tarp in your store room will help greatly. Hence, heavy duty tarps can be used as a temporary solution against a leaking roof.

Key properties of heavy duty tarps

A key feature of a tarp is that it is water proof and at the same time is capable enough to keep away the sun. It can provide protection to almost anything that exists in and out of your house. This might simply include your car, tool box, a leaking roof, your backyard or your entire house. And when you use heavy duty tarps, you don’t have to care about getting a new one for a few years.
Heavy duty tarps can be used in winters to protect plants which cannot survive the winter. Covering these plants will trap some warmth in and thus, they can live and make it out the entire winter. The same can be applied over certain corners of your house which can be cosy and warm but are dead cold now.

Heavy duty tarps are easy to carry and you can take them along to a camping site or for a picnic. They can act as a temporary picnic mat or a camp tent.

Their feasibility and the easy accessibility that they bring is what makes them reliable and are chosen by many. Dust, debris, rains, fire and other factors can be effectively kept away when you use heavy duty tarps.

Where Can You Shop For a Low Priced/Discounted Tarpaulin?

Is tarpaulin cheaper when purchased online or cheaper when bought from a local hardware store? What do you prefer – online shopping of tarpaulin or the hunt for it in local hardware shops or stores?

There is no doubt in this that the concept of online shopping has emerged as a boon to all busy people. The process is simple and just so feasible that you wish to keep on adding items to your cart and eventually, even buy them! Online tarp stores or websites are those market places which are virtual, save your time; provide you with a huge range of options, amazing discounts you wouldn’t want to say no to and also save your precious time by facilitating a door step service. Amidst all the features of online shopping, with the efficient management of your time, is your money saved?

Bringing the discussion directly on to tarpaulins now, do online stores provide you low price or discounted tarpaulins or is it the local hardware store that cares about your money? Don’t know about expert opinion, but online shopping stops are relatively less expensive than local hardware shops, which, on most occasions, want to extract extra money from you.

If you find the prices of your desired tarpaulin same at both the places, your local hardware shop certainly doesn’t provide you with exclusive offers or deals that help you fetch cheap yet good quality tarpaulin. Needless to say, this happens at online shopping stops frequently, where they provide you a wide range of options of tarpaulin in distinct colors to fit your needs at low prices you didn’t have an idea about.

Online shopping stores might not provide you warranty but they do provide you exchange services. So if hired tarpaulin is faulty or not like the one you ordered, you can change it. This is quite less feasible in hardware shops. You aren’t given the guarantee or warranty and not even the exchange facility.

Even then, you can research, compare and then make the right choice!

Difference Between Cut Sizes and Finished Sizes

Normally people go for tarps from different local retailers. However, after buying them, when the size of the tarp is actually measured, it is found that the size mentioned in packaging is different from the actual size. There is a reason for that. This is because different companies mention the cut sizes on their packaging, but the actual size of the tarp is 4 to 6 percent lesser than the mentioned size.

The cut size of the tarp is actually the total area of the material that has been used to make the tarp. While cutting the material the hems and seams are discarded since they are of no use. Once these parts are cut off, the size of the material reduces by about 4 to 6 percent or may be more in some cases. While cutting the workers are also unable to tell about the finished size because every finished product will have different sizes.

Usually this difference in size does not create much of a problem but if you require a tarp to cover something up, you may need a specific size which will be very difficult to find and sometimes very irritating in nature.

If we take up an example, in a packaged product if the cut size is mentioned as 5.6X7.6 then that is the final size which has been obtained after cutting the hems and seams of a 6X6 tarp material. Basically the cut tarpaulin sizes will always be larger than the finished sizes of the tarps.

However, there are some retailers who prefer to mention the exact size of the tarp on their packaging. For example, if it is mentioned as 6X6 on the packaging, it will be actually of 6X6 size once the tarp is opened and measured.

Customers sometimes end up paying extra since they don’t have an idea as to what the actual size of the tarp will be after it is opened. Thus, they need to have a clear idea of the size and should know about the differences between cut sizes and finished sizes of tarps before buying, to make the correct purchase decisions.

Tarps are very important to the transportation industry, construction industry and for industrial uses.  They used to cover boats, trucks, and others. They helpprotect the vehicle from rain, sun, and wind. However, nowadays there are several online companies offering tarps at discounted prices.

To choose the right discounted tarps, one must know that tarps which are normally over stocked are discounted. When you look at the discounted section tarps, you will see that the inventory is updated weekly.

While looking for discounted tarps always consider the following parameters-
  • Mesh count
  • Poly coating
  • Mil thickness
  • Specifications that will meet your needs and requirements
  • Tarp offered is of best quality and in finest condition
  • Though you are paying less money, quality should not be compromised
  • Selection of the discounted tarp from reputed and trusted hire companies
When you are buying or hiring such discounted tarps, the following are also important-

Measure the size of your vehicle- If you are buying the tarp for your vehicle, it is very essential to measure the size of the vehicle, does not go by estimation. Just because you’re getting it a low price, does not mean you will buy the tarp oversized or below sized the actual requirement. If the size is not available as per your needs you can get it custom made.

Fine quality- Whichever material of tarp you end up buying, quality is most important. Do not buy something merely because it is at the discounted price and looks attractive and cheap. Buy the tarps of the best quality from the reputed companies which will assure of its quality.

Check the specifications- When you are buying the discounted tarps, check their specifications in detail.  A good tarp must be able to withstand cold up to the -30 degrees; it is not advised to buy the tarp which cannot withstand the temperature up to -5 degrees, especially when you stay where the temperature might fall up to -10 degrees.  So check the heat and cold temperature as per your location.

Other than the above, there are also special quality tarps which are used to protect machinery and plants at various construction sites.
